The Shadow Government
Have you ever noticed how politicians like Trump who are campaigning for president, often make sweeping statements as to how they will end wars, shore up the economy, build walls on the border, fix income gaps, etc, while on the campaign trail? Then after the election, and all the votes are tallied, they ascend to the highest office in the land and over the course of their entire administration not one thing ever changes. Every single grandiose campaign promise made goes unaddressed and floats off into the collective memory hole. There is a good reason for this, it is called the Shadow Government, or Continuity of Government (COG).
In 2014 the Boston Globe ran an article detailing a new book by Tufts University political scientist Michael J. Glennon called "National Security and Double Government.” In this article Glennon uses the term "double government" to describe the underbelly apparatus of government that makes all of the decisions, and essential stymies any and all efforts towards change by elected officials, including the president. The article makes special note of Obamas failure to end the Iraq war,
"Glennon cites the example of Obama and his team being shocked and angry to discover upon taking office that the military gave them only two options for the war in Afghanistan: The United States could add more troops, or the United States could add a lot more troops. Hemmed in, Obama added 30,000 more troops.
Glennon’s critique sounds like an outsider’s take, even a radical one. In fact, he is the quintessential insider: He was legal counsel to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a consultant to various congressional committees, as well as to the State Department. “National Security and Double Government” comes favorably blurbed by former members of the Defense Department, State Department, White House, and even the CIA. And he’s not a conspiracy theorist: Rather, he sees the problem as one of “smart, hard-working, public-spirited people acting in good faith who are responding to systemic incentives”—without any meaningful oversight to rein them in." As noted by Glennon who is highly credible, this is not a conspiracy theory, this is truly conspiracy fact. Many former presidents have testified to the existence and power of the Shadow Government that keeps gaining in strength, power and influence within government over the years.

There are many articles on the internet that make these statements and compile these eye opening quotes demonstrating the reality of the Shadow Government, but what they fail to do is show you in a practical sense how the Shadow Government operates and controls from behind the scenes.

The Power Structure
Essentially how this works is once the president takes office, the first thing that happens is he is briefed on all of the national security issues facing the country. This comes in the form of Daily Intelligence Briefs mainly given to him by the CIA and other agency heads. By the second day of their presidency the desk in the oval office is literally flooded with briefs having to do with potential economic collapse scenarios, critical foreign policy decisions, classified Intel updates, domestic PR objectives, etc. All of which falls under the umbrella of national security. Through these daily briefs it is made abundantly clear to the newly seated president that if they make any decision on their own understanding they very well could collapse the economy, start wars, or even start civil unrest. It is right there that the president is made to feel that all his promises he made on the campaign trail were totally uninformed and even dangerous to the wellbeing of the American empire. From that point on he won't make any decisions without the full cooperation of all of his advisors and departmental heads for fear of massive consequences on a national and global scale. This is exactly where the Shadow Government wants a new president, wholly reliant on the oversight of strategically placed men who carry out the objectives and goals of the empire.
There are three major components of the Shadow government, all of which is for the most part inaccessible to the oversight and direction of elected officials and the public.
Think Tanks
There are many think tank organizations that create policy for governments, advocacy groups, foundations, NGOs, and businesses. These organizations are the true policy makers in government and are the ones who are commissioned by governments and corporations to put together multi-generational plans detailing the objectives of the empire. These think tanks are made up of highly influential people who almost always have bounced back and forth between government positions, military positions, and corporate positions gaining a cohesive insight into the nature of the beast system. By navigating the systems of fascist bureaucracy and proving themselves loyal to the moneyed interests that control and leverage government, they then go on to utilize their experience and knowledge to write policy for these think tanks. You will rarely ever find a politician that deviates from these plans and objects for the sole reason that no one person has the intellect and vision to both plan and implement the domestic and foreign policy objectives of the American empire. The plans that are commissioned, are drawn up by a huge spectrum of people who have successfully navigated the corridors of power within the corporate and governmental realms for their entire careers. They know their limitations inside the constitutional system, but also know how to get things done outside the oversight of that system, this is why they are in such high demand.
These plans are extremely elaborate and shape decades of US policy objectives on a wide variety of topics. Most notable are the think tanks that shape policy that falls under the umbrella of national security. It is here where policy is created for military objectives, economic objectives, domestic objectives, social objectives and even political objectives. These plans are commissioned by intelligence agencies, political committees, and the military themselves and then implemented verbatim in a top down universal approach. These plans are highly classified, and only revealed to relevant personnel with in the structures of government on a need to know basis. This includes the president, who often times has to internally investigate these agencies and departments in order to even catch a glimpse of these secretive plans. This is what creates a highly compartmentalized atmosphere with little if no oversight within our government. It is these classified plans that drive the little ants inside of government to do things most of us cannot even fathom on behalf of the empire. They do it because they are lead to believe if they do not follow the objectives to the letter there may be an unintentional crisis that they will be at fault for on the horizon. Nobody wants to be the subject of a congressional inquiry. By following the plans to the letter it assures you that you will be protected by the powers that be even if it becomes public knowledge. That one little fact right there is a huge motivating factor for the pawns to stick to the plan.

Corporations
When we speak of the "American Empire" most people only think in terms of the politicians that get up on stage and pontificate endlessly about all of the issues facing our country. In reality these politicians are a very disposable part of what drives the American empire. The only reason they stick around for any length of time is because they are good at whitewashing the endlessly cruel objectives of a government out of control.
What truly drives the empire objectives is the moneyed interests within this country. Mainly the corporations. There are honorable mom and pop shops that rely on their pricing and the quality of their product to become successful in the market place. Then there are the corporations that discovered you can utilize government to force consumers to buy their products and monopolize their industries by regulating against their competition.
Politicians don't write legislation anymore, instead the vast majority of legislation is proposed on behalf of mega-corporations. A prime example of this is Obamacare. A Washington Post article noted how Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber readily admitted that deception was a critical part in pushing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) through congress. He was quoted as saying,
"Gruber said. “In terms of risk-rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in—you made explicit that healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed, okay. Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass…Look, I wish Mark was right that we could make it all transparent, but I’d rather have this law than not.” (Washington Post)
When working for the moneyed interest of the insurance corporations this is the attitude that the Obamacare author took when presenting this massive 20,000 page bill to the American people, one that relied on the "lack of transparency" and "stupidity of the American voter." Who benefited from this multi-billion dollar overhaul of the American healthcare system? According to a Public Integrity brief it was the insurance companies that made out like bandits at the expense of patient privacy, patient health and our nations doctors.
"UnitedHealth Group’s revenues grew an eye-popping 13 percent, from $31.7 billion in the first quarter of 2014 to $35.8 billion in the first quarter of 2015. Net earnings on a per share basis were even more impressive, growing 33 percent, from $1.10 to $1.46 per share.
One reasons for the glowing results was the fact that UnitedHealth added 570,000 new customers during the first quarter of 2015 from the Obamacare exchanges. And contrary to conventional wisdom, that the formerly uninsured Obamacare customers would overuse medical services, UnitedHealth executives said that wasn’t the case." (PublicIntegrity.org)
Though the article first states that the insurance companies were against the ACA, that was only because they were pushing for harsher penalties against the uninsured, and wanting also to lessen the amounts they were forced to spend on patient healthcare.
Now if insurance companies will utilize unscrupulous politicians, legislators and tactics to force people to buy their insurance product or face major financial penalties simply for their shareholders benefit, just think what the military industrial complex will do to provide more returns for their shareholders. You guessed it, they will manufacture constant war and propaganda domestically and abroad that assures a demand for their products. Endless war for the corporate fascist empire simple means more shareholder value. At the end of the day, a product is a product, a buck is a buck and how they sell one to get the other and who they hurt is irrelevant. The best way to assure that they keep this cash flow going is to take over government and make sure this flow of arms continues unabated endlessly.
While it is one thing to push a product like insurance onto the American people, it is a whole other area of expertise to push something like war onto the American people. This is where the professional pitch men come into play, the politicians.
For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men. As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich. They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? Jeremiah 5:26-29
Politicians
Most politicians on the congressional level truly believe they are affecting government with their committees and their legislative efforts. What they don't realize is often times all they are doing is reacting to Shadow Government policy that has festered and has now caught the public attention. These junior politicians have little sway over anything in government, and even less of an idea as to why things occur and take shape in government. The position puffs them up and makes them feel important but in reality anything they do or propose is often too little too late.
The only politicians that have any clue as to what goes on behind the scenes are the ones that sit on the intelligence committees. You usually know who they are because they are old, crusty, have maintained office for decades and can't stop talking about terrorists and war. Think Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Harry Reid and their ilk. They often sit on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and get briefed on a variety of Shadow Government projects. Though they are somewhat in the know, all they end up being is gophers and publicity managers on any given national security topic. They are there to sway the debates in favor of the think tank and corporate objectives by putting a sugary PR spin on everything and also positioning people for inquiry cover-ups.
Politicians that end up at this level of the Shadow Government are often overtly protected. For example Hillary Rodham Clinton, the woman has more skeletons in her closet than she has lesbian lovers, yet she manages to perpetually avoid prosecution at every turn on a variety of scandals. This article in the NY Post illustrates this fact perfectly in regards to the private investigation by the FBI into the illegal use of private email servers used by Clinton to pass classified information.
"FBI chief James Comey and his investigators are increasingly certain that presidential nominee Hillary Clinton violated laws in handling classified government information through her private email server, career agents say.
Some expect him to push for charges, but he faces a formidable obstacle: the political types in the Obama White House who view a Clinton presidency as a third Obama term.
With that, agents have been spreading the word, largely through associates in the private sector, that their boss is getting stonewalled, despite uncovering compelling evidence that Clinton broke the law." (NY Post)
They truly become politically protected and untouchable because they simply know too much, the sad thing is, this knowledge makes them as much a slave as a rich man.
They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. Job 21:13
Conclusion
Government becomes evil because it harbors two types of people, those who go along with anything and those who utilize government to conceal the hidden agendas of the moneyed corporate and military objectives of the empire. The methods of concealing information from the public rely heavily on their ability to fold everything under the umbrella of national security. Managing the media and public opinion is a national security objective, managing wars abroad is a national security objective, managing the economic crisis is a national security objective, managing the domestic police state is a national security objective. Everything becomes a crisis, so everything gets folded into the jurisdictional authority of the Shadow Government.
This is why we can sit back and laugh at all of the campaign promises Trump makes. Maybe in his corporate world he can act like a true executive, but in the world of American politics he won't be able to act like one simply because the corporation is being held hostage by a number of powerful interests. These interests have gone to great lengths to see to it that nobody messes with their power hegemony and they are not afraid to destroy anyone or anything that messes with their interests. The NSA spying is more about keeping tabs on politicians, leaks and whistleblowers internally than it is looking to find and stop terrorists, that is why it exits, so the Shadow Government can protect itself. It is there to find and destroy political enemies, not foreign ones.
If Trump obtains the presidency, and that is a big if, he will do one of two things. He will either try to change the system only to meet deadly resistance, or he will succumb to those that truly have their hands on the levers of power.
