With over 6,000 years worth of recorded use, hundreds of peer reviewed studies towards its medicinal efficacy on virtually every disease, 1000's of documented uses from food to fuel, and no detrimental health side effects, cannabis is without question one of the most fascinating plants God has ever created. In fact you would be hard pressed to find another plant in all the earth that has benefited the human race more so than cannabis/hemp has. These points are all undeniable, totally substantiated, readily researched and attributed facts. Yet despite these facts, the group that presents the least favorable view towards the legalization of marijuana has always been Christian conservatives. According to a Barna Group study entitled Legalize It? A Majority of Christians Say No to Recreational Pot, it was found that,
"A majority of Americans (58%) now favor legalizing marijuana for recreational or other use. This scale has tipped for almost all groups—the exceptions being among Christians and those over the age of 64, among which a majority still believe recreational marijuana should be kept illegal." (Barna Group)
The study references some of the reasons given for why people including Christians disfavor any type of legalization of Cannabis. Those reasons include the usual "gateway drug", "health risk", and "driving impairment" all of which have been proven to be false conclusions as shown in the sited links. The real reason for lack of support towards legalization among Christians can be boiled down to one reason, they believe it to be a sin. So to gain the support of Christians, the question of whether or not Cannabis is a sin in the eyes of God has to be resolved.
God's Medicine Cabinet
The Bible makes it very clear that upon the founding of creation God ingeniously provided everything mankind would need through the bounty of nature. Food, shelter, medicine and any type of material support can easily be found in nature. Cannabis most definitely qualifies as one of these herbs and seed bearing plants that he meant for us to utilize.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. Genesis 1: 29-30
Everything that we need can be found in nature and so much of our societal ills can be attributed to the fact that we have disregarded the provision of nature in favor of the provisions and inventions of mankind. At this point in human history it can be emphatically stated that mankind has never been so far removed from nature than it is now. Our clothes, living spaces, food, medicines, and fuels are devoid of any natural processes and as a result the health and well-being of the species has deteriorated exponentially since the advent of the industrial age.
Even though there has been some incredible things done in the name of technology due to the innovative nature of humanity, there is a dark side to technology that makes all of these modern marvels possible, mainly enslavement. We have become servants of a world system that is fundamentally anti-nature and therefore anti-God.
Conventional Medicine is Rebellion Against God
The Bible makes it very clear that the devil controls the governments and systems of the world. This world system is the primary domain in which he works to pervert God's creation, natural systems, and humanity from. In 2 Corinthians 4:4 the devil is referred to as the "God of this World", and in 1 John 5:19 we see that "the whole world lieth in wickedness" as a result of his influence on the systems of this world. So it is little wonder that governments, universities, corporations, and scientific progress all promote a overtly anti-nature and anti-God worldview. The perverting of nature, and the denial of God's hand in creation fall perfectly in line with what the Bible tells us about the worlds' systems. They are truly in a state of rebellion to both God and nature, and God hates rebellion. So when it comes to thinking about sin relative to the cannabis issue we have to understand that in the eyes of God, the medical establishment and their methods of healing is not God's way, he didn't create any of these things. He created seed bearing plants, and the epitome of all seed bearing plants in terms of creating natural, health sustaining foods, textiles, and medicine is the cannabis plant, hands down.
Jesus making an analogy to the devil, stated that he has a three-fold purpose,
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10
As Christians we have to remember that the devil is the false god that the world and the worlds' systems worship. Though it seems altruistic on the surface with all of the technology and modern marvels, at the root of all these things is a system that is very much anti-God and anti-human. The medical establishment being a part of this conglomerate of world power is no different. The medical establishment undoubtedly "steals" by leveraging obscene costs on its patients. Its profit motivation "kills" by promoting a system of symptom management instead of true cures which costs many lives due to drug overdoses, misdiagnoses, malpractice and outright fraud. This institution also "destroys", in the way of ostracizing natural doctors, favoring harmful chemical laden drug manufacturing practices, and obfuscates the importance organic foods and nutrition are in the body.
So for all those who are skeptical as to cannabis and its use in society, in the mind of God the medical mafia and the way it operates is more akin to the definition of a sin than cannabis use is. The medical establishment while it may do some good here and there, its methods of treatment are unnatural and highly suspect at times and the jury is still out on whether they do more harm than good. Especially in the case of over-prescribing and the evasiveness of unwarranted surgeries and treatments. If you bring your car to a crooked mechanic you better believe every instrument they have and test with is designed to find something wrong with your vehicle so you the sucker end up having to pay them to "fix" it. So like a crooked mechanic, conventional medicine is proving to to do more harm than good on a national level. This is evidenced by the fact that organic eating and natural living has exploded in popularity in recent decades, and also the fact that 23 states have already enacted laws allowing for the prescribing of medical cannabis. This is huge, people are recognizing that there is something seriously wrong with our corporatized food chain and the conventional medical systems to the point that there is a full on revolt happening in our country. More people are getting back to nature, they see these systems as running counter to the systems God designed, and for the sake of their health have started making lifestyle choices that work to remove them from their lives and their families lives.
Why Christians are Joining the Cannabis Revolution
The links above establish that there is no detrimental health concerns with cannabis, but instead actually show health regenerative properties that surpass in many ways that of conventional treatments. This is why it is so important for Christians to support the cannabis revolution happening in America. This simple plant has demonstrated that not only is it better at restoring health, creating food and living materials, but it also single handily shows the superiority of nature and God's created systems over all of the medical, oil and textile corporate systems combined. In fact it is as if God knew in advance that this one plant was going to make a mockery of everything the devil has worked toward in the way of corporatized enslavement. The effort to suppress the knowledge and use of this plant is legion and is rooted in the love of money as are all things evil, 1 Timothy 6:10.
As for the recreational use of cannabis, the fact that there has been a successful attempt to demonize and legislate against a plant in this country is an affront to God. To make any part of nature illegal is tantamount to saying that God was wrong, that he made a mistake and human wisdom supersedes that of nature and God himself. Again the illegalization of cannabis is about money and control. It has nothing to do with concerns about national health, the legalization and sale of Alcohol perfectly illustrates that point seeing it is far more harmful to national health than cannabis is. Should people smoke it all the time? No, everything in moderation, but are they going to hell for its use, again no. Even the Apostle Paul prescribed a little wine as a means of self-medication. Simply know that these are powerful medications and need to be approached with respect, moderation and knowledge.
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.
1 Timothy 5:23
In conclusion the reason why the nation and now Christians are starting to wake up and join the cannabis revolution is because truth and common sense always prevails. And the truth about cannabis is that no, it will not make you demon possessed, kill you, make you stupid, make you sterile, or any of the other none sense that has been propagandized into the minds of the public in this country. The fact is it is in all reality a net gain toward the health of our culture in more ways than can be listed. Nothing has brought more people to the realization that God's natural, ordained, created and intended systems are infinitely better than the anything the devil could counterfeit in this day and age than that of the plant cannabis.
When cannabis is isolated from the dumbed down drug culture and the propaganda of corporatized competition it stands out as a premier example of just how incredible our God and His creation is. If anything Christians of all stripes need to rid themselves of preconceived notions, and repent of the fact that many have worshiped at the altar of the medical mafia when then come down with ailments as opposed to looking into the benefits of cannabis and nature for treatment. In the Bible it is counted as shame to judge a matter without thoroughly looking into it,
He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him. Proverbs 18:13
Cannabis and its benefits are one of those areas many Christians have succumbed to the "wisdom" of the world and failed to do their due diligence and research. They would rather have a doctor of worldly methodology preside over their health than allow a cure to be found through the following and application of natural, God prescribed methods of health.
So in summation the true sin is to believe the world would have better methods of health restoration than God Himself. That is the lesson in cannabis, and that is why so many Christians are starting to rethink their position on a herb that has proven itself to be a God created, life giving resource for all of humankind.
